Clean and open designs lead 2015 bathroom trends, according to the National Kitchen & Bath Association, a 14,000-member trade association.

Top Trends Include

Clean, white, contemporary designs.

Floating vanities.

Open-shelving.

Trough sinks.

Showers and freestanding tubs.

Contemporary Leads The Way

Contemporary and transitional outpace the third most popular style—traditional—by more than 15 percentage points. Nearly half of those surveyed expect to see a continued rise in the popularity of contemporary design.

White Still On Top

White and gray are the dominant colors for bathrooms, specified by more than 70 percent of respondents in 2014. Half expect to see gray growing in 2015. White fixtures – maintaining the long-standing top spot – were once again the choice of 84 percent of designers surveyed in 2014.

Trough Sinks With A Twist

The use of Undermount sinks is predicted to continue strong in 2015, while the use of vessel sinks, currently at a distant second, is expected to decline. Several respondents reported using large trough sinks and two faucets in the master bathroom, in a new twist on the old side-by-side vanity sinks.
